Formatting a Chart Analysis Window
A Chart Analysis Window can include a number of objects including symbol data (price bars), analysis techniques, strategies, account order & position markers, and drawing objects that each have their own format settings. In addition, every Chart Analysis Window has its own specific format settings along with Chart Analysis Preferences that are shared with other chart windows.
Format Symbol
- Activate a Chart Analysis window.
- From the Menu bar, click Format > Symbol.
- Select the appropriate tab to make changes:
- Settings - Symbol name; Interval, range, and display settings for specified symbol.
- Style - Bar type and component color and weight by session; Bar update indication; Make bars invisible.
- Scaling - Axis selection for symbol data; scale type, range, and display settings for symbol data axis. Click Set as Default to have these values apply to all new charts.
- Properties - Symbol, Category, Country, Currency, Session, Time Zone, Price Scale, Min Move, and Big Point Value settings.
Format Analysis Technique
- Activate a Chart Analysis window containing an analysis technique.
- From the Menu bar, click Format > Analysis Techniques.
- From the Analysis Techniques tab, highlight a technique and click Format.
- Select the appropriate tab to make changes:
- General - Analysis technique name; Data reference; Max Bars Back; Update intra-bar.
- Inputs - Name and Value of each analysis technique input; Dictionary.
- Alerts - Enable/disable alerts for analysis technique.
- Style - Type, style, and weight of each analysis technique plot; Display Update Indication.
- Color - Foreground color of each analysis technique plot.
- Scaling - Axis selection for analysis technique; Scale type, range, and display settings for analysis technique.
Format Strategies
- Activate a Chart Analysis window containing a strategy.
- From the Menu bar, click Format > Strategy.
- From the Strategies tab, highlight a technique and click Format.
- Select the appropriate tab to make changes:
- Inputs - Name and Value of each strategy input; Dictionary; Optimization settings.
- Entries - Arrow and tick style, line style and weight, and colors for each entry type.
- Exits - Arrow and tick style, line style and weight, and color for each exit type.
- Calculation - Intra-bar order generation and calculation settings.
Format Account Orders & Positions
- Activate a Chart Analysis window containing a strategy.
- From the Menu bar, click Format > Account Orders & Positions.
- Select the appropriate tab to make changes:
- Data - Turn on/off status for orders and positions by symbol.
- Settings - Arrow type and order lines for each type of order status.
Format Account Number
- From the Menu bar, click Format > Account Orders & Positions.
- Click the Account No.
- Select the appropriate tab to make changes:
- Equities - Account number to use for equities orders and positions in the current window.
- Options - Account number to use for options orders and positions in the current window.
- Futures - Account number to use for futures orders and positions in the current window.
- Forex - Account number to use for forex orders and positions in the current window.
When you are on a chart, you can also use the right-click shortcut menu item for Account Numbers for Orders and Positions to select the account to use for an asset class.
Format Drawing Object
Each drawing object has different formatting settings that can be accessed by right-clicking on the drawing object and select Format 'Object Name'.
Format Window
- Activate a Chart Analysis window.
- From the Menu bar, click Format > Window.
- Select the appropriate tab to make changes:
- General - General settings for scroll bar, price axis width, bar spacing properties, and percent change charts.
- Status Line - Control position, indications, and fields of the chart status line.
- Font - Settings for font name, style, size and effects by property.
- Color - Settings for the color of each chart property by name.
- Style - Settings for the style/weight of grid, session breaks, axis, and subgraph dividers.
Format Chart Analysis Preferences
- Activate a Chart Analysis window.
- From the Menu bar, click Format > Chart Analysis Preferences.
- Select the appropriate tab to make changes:
- General - Mouse, display, and format parameters for chart components.
- Display - Displays settings for axis, bar spacing, DataTips and Candlesticks.
- Symbol - Format parameters and range settings for symbol data.
- Style - Specify bar type and component color/style for each data series.
- Strategy - Optimization report settings, strategy performance report settings, and other strategy settings.
- Data - Settings for handling historical data updates.
