Protecting a Workspace
A workspace is a file that has the ability to be changed as a read-only file. By doing this, it enables you and other users to view the workspace but not make any changes to it which protects your workspace from any unwanted changes.
- From the Main toolbar, click the Open Workspace
icon. The Open Workspace dialog is displayed. - Right-click the desired workspace to protect.
- Select Properties. The [workspace name] Properties dialog is displayed.
- Click the General tab.
- Under Attributes, select the Read-only check box.
- Click OK.
- Click Open to open the read-only workspace or Cancel to close the Open Workspace dialog.
This method only offers a modicum of protection because anyone can change the properties of the file back to full access. Therefore, this method of protecting your workspace should be used only to remind you or other users that you don't want changes made to it, and not as a method of securing your files. Also, it only protects the workspace from changes, you can still copy it.
