Renaming a Workspace

Renaming a workspace allows you to modify the original name after you have customized the workspace to your preference. If a workspace name is not conducive to the changes made, it would be difficult for you to remember what was in the workspace if you kept the original name.

When renaming your workspace, you can use long, descriptive names. Workspace names cannot include any of the following characters: forward slash (/), backslash (\), greater than sign (>), less than sign (<), asterisk (*), period (.), question mark (?), quotation mark ("), pipe symbol (|), colon (:), or semicolon (;). Also, the complete path to the file, including the drive letter, server name, folder path, and file name, can contain up to 255 characters.

  1. From the Desktop tool bar, click the Open Workspace icon, or use the DesktopFile > Workspaces > Open Workspace menu sequence. The Open Workspace dialog is displayed.
  2. Right-click the workspace name to rename.
  3. Click Rename from the shortcut menu.
  4. Type the new name.
  5. Press ENTER. The Confirm File Rename dialog is displayed asking you are you sure you want to change it.
  6. Click Yes to proceed with renaming the workspace, click No to cancel the operation. The old workspace file is now replaced with the new workspace named file.
  7. Click Open or Cancel to complete the operation.

You cannot rename an open workspace. To rename an open workspace, first close it and then follow steps 1 - 5 above. Keep in mind that you can copy an open workspace instead of renaming it.
