Working with Multiple Workspaces

You may want to have multiple open workspaces depending on the number of securities, commodities, or other financial instruments that you track. TradeStation can monitor alerts and strategy orders on open workspaces only.

By default, TradeStation displays a tab for each open workspace. The tabs appear at the bottom of the Desktop, as shown in the figure below.

The tab of the current workspace is white while the tabs for the other open workspaces are gray, as shown in the image below. You can toggle the tabs on and off; see Setting the Desktop Preferences.

When you have several workspaces open, you may not be able to see all of the tabs at once. Therefore, you can use the left and right arrow buttons to scroll through the open workspace tabs. The inside left and right arrows scroll through the tabs one by one to the right and left, respectively, and the outside left and right arrows scroll directly to the left-most tab and to the right-most tab, respectively.

TradeStation enables you to have an unlimited number of workspaces open simultaneously, depending on the amount of memory and resources available on your computer. For efficiency, it is always a good idea to have only the necessary number of workspaces open.

Use any of the following methods to switch from one open workspace to another:

  • Click the tab that corresponds to the workspace you want to access.
  • From the Menu bar, click File > Opened Workspaces and select the workspace you want to view.
  • Press CTRL + PAGE UP or PAGE DOWN keys simultaneously to cycle through your open workspaces.
