Edit Custom Symbol Lists

The Edit Custom Symbol Lists dialog allows you to manage your custom symbol lists. There are a number of different functions you can perform in this window so a brief description of each procedure follows. Custom symbol lists are the only symbol lists that you can modify.

 Access using the Data > Edit Lists menu sequence or from the Add Symbol List dialog, click Edit Lists. The Edit Custom Symbol Lists dialog is displayed.

Custom Symbol Lists  

Contains the custom symbol lists.

  • Click Expand to display all custom symbol lists.
  • Select the custom symbol list name to modify. The symbols associated to the selected custom symbol list will be displayed.

Symbol/Exchange  

Displays the symbols and exchanges associated with the selected custom symbol list.

  • Add - Allows you to add symbols of financial instruments to the selected custom symbol list. Enter the symbol, click Add and repeat until all the desired symbols are added to the selected custom symbol list. The added symbols will be associated to the custom symbol list.
  • Lookup - Launches the Symbol Lookup dialog.
  • Add from a List - Launches the Add Symbol List dialog which allows you to add symbols by consolidating a custom symbol list you select to the selected custom symbol list in the Manage Custom Symbol List dialog.
  • Remove - Removes the selected symbol(s) from the custom symbol lists.
  • Move Up - Positions the selected symbol toward the top of the list.
  • Move Down - Positions the selected symbol toward the bottom of the list.
  • Sort - Allows you to sort the symbols in the selected custom symbol list. Select Ascending to sort the list A-Z or Descending to sort the list Z-A.

  • Create - Creates a Custom Symbol List, Historical Custom Symbol List and Historical Component List.
  • Custom Symbol List - Creates a new custom symbol list under the Symbol Lists pane.
  • Historical Custom Symbol List - Creates a new historical custom symbol list under the Symbol Lists pane.
  • Historical Component List - Creates a historical custom symbol list with a new date and time under the existing historical custom symbol list under the Symbol Lists pane. This is used when you want to use the same symbol list name and modify the symbols within that specified date/time.
  • Rename - Replaces the name of the selected custom symbol list. For more information, see Renaming a Custom Symbol List.
  • Edit Date - Replaces the historical custom symbol list's date and time. Edit Date is only available when a historical custom symbol list is selected.
  • Delete - Removes the selected custom symbol list.

 Click Close to apply changes and exit the window.
