Disabling a Study in a Chart

You can turn off, or temporarily disable a study without removing it from a chart. For example, you may want to turn off a study if you modified the input values and do not want the study to continue performing its calculations. Another reason you may want to disable a study is if you want to keep the study saved with the chart it is applied to but do not want the study to perform calculations at the moment.

When a study's status is set to Off, the study will not perform any calculations or trigger any alerts.

  1. Activate a Chart Analysis window containing the study to disable.
  2. Access the Studies > Edit Studies. This Customize Studies & Strategies dialog is displayed.
  3. Select the Studies tab.
  4. Select the study whose status to change.
  5. Click Status to toggle the status to Off. To toggle the status back On, click Status again.
  6. Click Close when finished.

The study is now disabled.

Runtime errors automatically turn off studies. For more information, see Correcting Runtime Errors in Studies Due to Maximum Number of Bars Study Will Reference Setting. In addition to runtime errors, Data Missing errors automatically turn off a study. To enable a study that caused a runtime or data missing error, you must correct the error and then set the study's status back to On.
