Sorting Columns in RadarScreen

The sorting feature in RadarScreen allows you to sort by any indicator column, in either descending or ascending order. There are several different methods you can use for sorting indicator columns - double-clicking the column, using the toolbar buttons, or choosing settings on the Sort tab in the Customize Page window. Choose the method that is most comfortable for you.

You can also sort groups of symbols within the same page by adding a blank row or label row between groups of symbols. Symbols are automatically sorted between blank rows and label rows.

Indicator columns are sorted on the actual column values, not the displayed values. Therefore, indicator columns using the number or currency format may appear to be sorted incorrectly, if all of the decimal places are not visible. You can increase the number of decimal places displayed so that you can see the entire calculated value and that the column is sorted correctly. For details on how to change the number of decimal places displayed for columns using the number format or currency format, see Number Category and Currency Category.

Using the Mouse

  1. Double-click the column name to sort by that column's values. The first time you double-click, the symbols are sorted in ascending order (for example, A to Z). If you double-click the column name a second time, the sort order is reversed and the symbols are sorted in descending order (for example Z to A).

Using the Menu

  1. Click in any cell under the column you want to sort.
  2. From the menu, click Data > Sort > Ascending or Data > Sort > Descending to sort the symbols in ascending or descending order based on the selected column's values.

Customizing the Sort

  1. From the menu, click Data > Sort > Customize.
  2. Under Sort keys, in the first by drop-down list, select the desired column you want to sort by first. Click for an ascending sort (such as 1 to 20) or click for a descending sort (such as Z to A). A pair of sort key names are listed for each column where the first name is used to sort based on the Column's value and the second name ends with '(Alert)' and is used to sort based on the Column's alert status. You can set up to three additional sort columns using the then by drop-down lists. Remember to set the sort as ascending or descending, depending on your needs.
  3. Check the Keep data sorted setting to automatically sort data as it is received. In the Every [ ] seconds box, enter the number of seconds that you want to pass until the data is sorted again. Make sure to deselect the Disable alert once hit box on the Alerts tab of the Customize column dialog to permit automatic sorting to proceed at the selected time interval.
  4. Optional. Select the Apply to all pages check box to apply your changes to all pages in the active RadarScreen window.
  5. Click OK when finished.
