Symbol Lookup - Stocks

The Stocks tab searches and finds the desired stock symbol based on the criteria you select.

Access using the Lookup button on the Activation Rule dialog.

The following methods are available to search for stock symbols:

  • Description - Searches for symbol descriptions that contain the letter(s) that you enter as search criteria. For example, if you enter IB, search will return all symbols whose company names contain IB, (LBY for Libbey, Inc.). In addition to using the description search, the results will find all symbols related to the stock symbol you are searching. For example, typing "Microsoft" will have multiple symbols. This method is helpful if you know the company name but are unsure of the stock symbol.
  • Symbol - Searches by the symbol that you enter as search criteria. For example, if you enter IB, the results will return all symbols with the letters IB (i.e., IBM and IBKC).

The following filter settings are used to refine the search criteria:

  • Country - Searches for stock symbols associated by country. By default, the United States is the selected Country.

Lookup - Displays the results you are looking for. The results will be based on what you entered in the Description, Symbol, and Country settings. Results will be displayed in the stocks symbol box.

Symbol/Description/Exchange/Country

  • Optional. Select the desired column to sort by.
  • Select the desired symbol from the list.

Lookup Options for [stock symbol] - Launches the Options tab displaying a list of options symbols for the selected stock symbol you are searching for. This allows you to see a list of options available for your selection. For example, Microsoft (underlying symbol MSFT), contains options to trade. However, Microsoft's underlying symbol MISO does not.

Click OK to insert the symbol into your active window, or click Cancel to exit without changes.
