Customize Study Properties - Alerts

The Alerts tab allows you to customize alert settings for a study. When formatting alerts, you can choose to use the global messaging preferences set up in the Message Center or you can configure custom settings for each type of alert. All alerts are sent to the Message Center.

  • Access while editing a study document using the File > Properties menu sequence, or select Properties from the right-click shortcut menu; then select the Alerts tab.

Enable Alert  

Contains the settings to enable, disable, and customize alerts associated with the selected study. Check this setting to turn on all alerts for the selected study. Deselect this setting to disable any associated alerts with the selected study.

  If Enable Alert is not checked, the following options will be greyed out.

Alert condition is true

If alerts are enabled, choose one of the following actions to be taken when the alert condition is true:

  • Alert once - Select this setting to turn off alerts after the first one occurs and clear the Enable Alert check box.
  • Alert once per bar (interval) - Select this setting to turn off alerts for the remainder of the bar after the first one occurs. Select the Clear triggered alert on bar open setting to remove the displayed alert marker at the Open of each bar.
  • Alert continuously - Select this setting to have all alerts processed.

Message Center notification settings  

If alerts are enabled, choose one of the following notification settings for the Message Center.

  • None (for use when scanning for alerts in RadarScreen) - Select this setting to skip message notification while still sending the alert to the Message Center.  Alert markers may still be displayed next to the symbol name in the Chart or RadarScreen window if enabled for the window. If you are using RadarScreen, see About Alerts in RadarScreen in the TradeStation platform help for more information.
  • Use the global messaging preferences - Select this setting to use the global Message Center notification settings.
  • Configure - Click this button to launch the Notification Preferences dialog to set up your global messaging preferences. For more information see Setting Up Global Message Center Preferences.
  • Use custom settings - Select this setting to choose custom notification settings for the selected indicator. 
  • Configure - Click this button to set up your custom messaging preferences.
 

Default - Click this button to use the current settings as the default for all future studies. A message appears to confirm if you want to use your settings as the default.

  • Click OK to apply changes or Cancel to exit without changes.
