Order Actions

In TradeStation, order actions (Buy, Sell Short, etc.) are used in combination with an order type (Market, Limit, Stop-Market, Stop-Limit) to make up a specific order description for buying or selling a security or commodity.  

Equities	Options	Futures	Description
Buy	Buy to Open	Buy	Used to establish, or add to, a long position for the specified symbol.
Sell	Sell to Close		Used to liquidate a long position for the specified symbol.
Sell Short	Sell to Open	Sell	Used to establish, or add to, a short position for the specified symbol.
Buy to Cover	Buy to Close		Used to liquidate a short position for the specified symbol.
