Index Options Symbology

The symbology for an index options symbol is the symbol root, followed by a space, followed by the strike price code and month code. The root may be up to three characters.

[Symbol root]<space>[Strike price code] [Month code]

For example, the symbol for the S&P 500 ($SPX.X) July 2001 1150 Call is SPT GJ.

In the Symbology expressions given in this section, [x] denotes a parameter that should be replaced with a value. The brackets ([ ]) are not a part of the expression. For example, [Symbol root] should be replaced with a symbol, such as ORCL. Items in italics are optional.
