Searching for LEAPS and Wraps using Symbol Lookup
The Symbol Lookup feature supports searches for both LEAPS and Wrap symbols. You simply specify an appropriate date range in the Options Filter window.
Searching for a LEAPS Symbol
- Open the Symbol Lookup dialog or click Lookup.
- Click the Options tab.
- In the Underlying/Root box, enter either the complete underlying symbol or option root as you cannot perform a search using a partial symbol root. If you do not know the complete underlying symbol or option root, first search for the underlying symbol using the Stocks, Futures or Index tab.
- From the Category drop-down list, select the type of options you wish to search for - Stock, Futures, or Index.
The Filter Settings section lists the combination of option symbols that will be listed. The combination is determined by strike price, expiration date and option type. - To modify the filter settings, click Modify Filter. The Options Filter dialog is displayed.
- Under Strike Price Range, you can select a specific number of strike prices above and below the current price of the underlying asset, or define the range of strike prices to return.
- Under Expiration Date, select the Return the expiration date from [ ] to [ ] option to define a range of expiration dates. Since you are searching for LEAPS, the expiration dates should be a year or more away.
- Under Option Type, the check box representing the type of option contracts that you want to display. You can select the Call check box, the Put check box, or both.
- Click OK to return to the Symbol Lookup dialog.
- Click Lookup.
Your search results are displayed in the list. Options search results are sorted by Type, Expiration, and Strike.
- Select a symbol from the list.
- Click OK to add that symbol into your active window.
To select more than one symbol at a time, hold down the SHIFT or CTRL key when selecting symbols.
Searching for a Wrap Symbol
- Open the Symbol Lookup dialog or click Lookup.
- Click the Options tab.
- In the Underlying/Root box, enter either the complete underlying symbol or option root as you cannot perform a search using a partial symbol root. If you do not know the complete underlying symbol or option root, first search for the underlying symbol using the Stocks, Futures or Index tab.
- From the Category drop-down list, select the type of options you wish to search for.

- To modify the filter settings, click Modify Filter. The Options Filter dialog is displayed.
- Under Strike Price Range, select the Return strike prices from [ ] to [ ] option. Since you are searching for Wrap symbols, the strike price range should be beyond the normal trading range of the security.
- The Expiration Date section allows you to determine what expiration dates that you want returned in your search. You can select a specific number of expiration periods from the current date or define a specific range of expiration dates.
- Under Option Type, select the check box representing the type of option contracts that you want to display. You can select the Call check box, the Put check box, or both.
- Click OK to return to the Symbol Lookup dialog.
- Click Lookup.
The search results are displayed in the list. Options search results are sorted by Type, Expiration, and Strike.
- Select a symbol from the list.
- Click OK to add that symbol into your active window.
