Filtering an Options Symbol Lookup

You can filter the results of your options searches by strike price range, expiration date, option type, and symbol type. Your selections will appear on the Symbol Lookup - Options tab under Filter Settings. The procedure below assumes that you have already set up your options search criteria on the Symbol Lookup - Options tab. For more information on setting up a search for an option symbol, see Symbol Lookup - Options.

  1. From the Symbol Lookup - Options tab, click Options. The Options Filter dialog is displayed.
  2. Under Strike Price Range, select a specific number of strike prices above and below the current price of the underlying asset, or define the range of strike prices to add. Negative strike prices are accepted.
    • Select the Return [ ] strikes above/below underlying price option to list options above or below a specific price. Choose the number of strikes that you want to use from the drop-down list box.
    • Select the Return strike prices from [ ] to [ ] option to define your own range of strike prices. Enter the prices you want returned for your search in the boxes.
  3. The Expiration Date section allows you to determine what expiration dates your search should return. You can choose one of the following options:
    • Select the Return the next [ ] expiration dates option to display options a specific number of expiration periods from the current date. Choose the number of expiration dates to use from the drop-down list.
    • Select the Return the expiration date from [ ] to [ ] option to define a range of expiration dates and enter the desired dates.
  4. Under Option Type, select the check box representing the type of option contracts that you want to display. You can select one of both of the Callor Put check boxes.
  5. Under Symbol Type, select the check box representing the type of symbol that you want your search to return. You can select any combination of the Composite, Regional, or Include Mini (mini options are 1/10 of a standard sized option) check boxes.
  6. Select the Set as Default check box to use these filter settings on all future options searches.
  7. Click OK to return to the Symbol Lookup dialog.
