RadarScreen Preferences - Option Chain
The Option Chain tab provides access to the settings that govern the display of options in an Option Chain page in RadarScreen.
Access using the RadarScreen window's Settings > Preferences menu sequence and select the Option Chain tab.
Strike Range
These settings govern the number of strike prices that appear in the option panel.
- Strike Range Above - Choose the number of strike prices above the current market price of the underlying that should appear in the Option panel.
- Strike Range Below - Choose the number of strike prices below the current market price of the underlying that should appear in the Option panel.
Num. Expirations
- Choose the number of expiration dates that should appear in the Expiration combobox on an Option Chain page in a RadarScreen window.
Expiration Types
- Determines the types of expiration to display. Select monthly, weekly, and/or quarterly.
Deliverables
- Determines the type of options symbols to display. Select regular, non-standard, and/or mini (1/10 of a standard size option).
Spread Width
- Determines the distance between strikes in a spread.
Expected Move Calculation

Determines whether a longer period or a shorter period is used to calculate the standard deviation of returns of the underlying. Select pessimistic for a longer period; select optimistic for a shorter period.

Pessimistic - Provides an expected move based on the standard formula: stock price * implied volatility * √ (days to expiration/365).

Optimistic - Modifies the pessimistic factor to provide a value that has been tested to be closer to a one standard deviation move (68% on a normal distribution curve).

Price Updating

Specifies the frequency that prices and calculations are updated. Choices include:
◦ Fast (default) - approximately every second.
◦ Medium - approximately every 3 seconds.
◦ Slow - approximately every 5 seconds.
Decimal Places for Greeks

Specifies the number of decimal places for Greeks columns.
Enable delayed underlying / real-time options warning message box

Check this box to enable a warning message when placing orders and data is delayed.
Click OK to apply changes or Cancel to exit without changes.
