Data Intervals in RadarScreen

Each symbol row in RadarScreen can be thought of as a tabular chart containing a series of invisible 'bars' that match the data interval setting for the row. Individual rows have access to historical data that can be set to any data interval, which allows you to use many of the same indicators you used in charting.

A symbol's data interval affects indicator columns such as Moving Average 1 Line, and RSI that require historical data to perform their calculations. For example, when you apply a moving average indicator to a symbol with a 30-minute data interval, the indicator would use the close of the 30-minute interval in its calculations. By default, all symbols are added using a 5-minute data interval. Indicator columns that do not require historical data update on a tick-by-tick basis, regardless of the data interval applied to the symbol.

To change the data interval settings for a row, right-click on the symbol name at the start of a row and choose Customize 'NNNN' from the shortcut menu (where NNNN is the symbol name). Select the desired interval from the Interval dialog.

There are two types of data intervals in RadarScreen: time-based and tick-based. Time-based intervals include minute (e.g. 1- minute, 5 - minute), second, daily, weekly, or monthly intervals. Tick-based intervals can be set to contain a specified number of ticks in each 'bar'.

For more information on the different types of data intervals, see time-based and tick-based.
