Options Spread Trade Bar

Orders for options spreads can be placed directly from the Options tab of the Trade Bar once your TradeStation account has been enabled for trading equities, options, and index options. Multi-leg option positions may not be viewed on chart at this time.

 Access from the Trade Bar and click Spreads, or use the shortcut menu and select Place Order.

Name  

Displays the selected Spread name.

  • To add a name or change a name, type the name in the Name box.

Symbol  

Displays the selected symbol to use for the spread.

  • Symbol - Verify that the desired symbol is displayed. Enter the options symbol (equities or index) to be the base leg of your option position. Note that you can place a '7' after the underlying symbol name for mini options.
  • Lookup - Launches the Symbol Lookup dialog which finds the option(s) for an underlying root symbol and category.

Column Headings  

Contains the various columns that support the legs of the spread.

  • Action - Select the action type for the spread order using the drop-down list.
  • Quantity - Select the number of contracts for each leg of the spread using the or   arrows.
  • Expiration - Select the expiration date for each leg of the spread using the drop-down list. W, M, and Q's (Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly) are added to the right of the expiration date to identify the term of each leg's expiration date.
  • Term - Displays the term for the leg of the spread.
  • Strike - Select the strike price for each leg of the spread using the drop-down list.
  • Type - Select the option type (Call or Put) for each leg of the spread using the drop-down list.
  • Symbol - Displays the option's symbol for each leg of the spread.

  • Order Type - Select the type of order for the spread using the drop-down list.
  • Limit Price - Enter or select using the or   arrows the limit price for the spread.
  • Stop Price - Enter the price for the stop order. Stop price is used for Stop Limit and Stop Market orders.
  • Natural - Enter the natural price for the spread. The natural price represents the bid price for the option sold and the ask price that is purchased.
  • Mid - Enter the mid for the spread. The mid price represents the middle price of the spread.
  • Route - Select the route for the spread order using the drop-down list.
  • Duration - Select the time in force (TIF) for the spread order using the drop-down list.
  • Account No. - Select the desired account number using the drop-down list.

  • Place Order - Places the spread order.
  • Stage Order - Stages the spread order.

 Click OK to apply changes or Cancel to exit without changes.
