Tips for Choosing the X- and Y-Axis for Optimization Graphs

Most graphs have an x- and y-axis with the exception of the pie graph. By default, these graphs use the column by which the report is sorted as the x-axis, and the columns you highlight as the y-axis. The columns you select for your y-axis are entirely up to you.

Keep in mind that you can reverse the orientation of your graph such the default sort column of the Strategy Optimization Report is the y-axis and the columns that you select are the x-axis. For instructions on changing the data orientation for your graph, see Changing Optimization Graph Settings.

Since the Strategy Optimization Report is displayed in a spreadsheet format, you can use the same basic selection methods that you would use in any other spreadsheet program, such as Excel.

  • To select an entire column, click the column heading. The entire column is selected.
  • To select an entire row, click on the row label. The entire row is selected.
  • To select multiple adjacent rows or columns, click the starting column heading or row label, and drag the pointer to the ending column heading or row.
  • To select multiple adjacent cells, click the starting cell and drag the pointer in the appropriate direction to highlight the desired cells.
  • To select the entire report, click the blank cell in the top left corner of the spreadsheet. Click anywhere in the report to cancel the selection of the entire report.
