Market Maker

A member firm of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). NASD relies on market makers to provide liquidity in over-the-counter (OTC) securities. A market maker is the equivalent of a specialist for the NYSE or ASE. Each market maker is required to be both a buyer and a seller of the securities that they represent. Their goal is to combine their efforts in each stock to collectively support a two-sided market.

Closed market makers are indicated by a lower case "c" at the end of their ID and shaded dark gray. Closed market makers are sorted separately from open market makers at the bottom of the window.
