ECN (Electronic Communication Network)

A third market, electronic trading system for Nasdaq securities. An ECN displays the Best Bid and Best Ask from its books. The Bids and Asks are anonymous, and the ECN automatically executes orders for matching Bids and Asks.

In the Bid Detail and Ask Detail panes, ECNs are marked with a number sign (#), so that you can differentiate them from the market makers.
