Protecting and Unprotecting Studies and Strategies
You can safeguard your studies and strategies from others by using the Protect feature. This feature allows you to create a customized password for the studies and strategies that you want to keep proprietary. Only those who know the password can access the EasyLanguage instructions used to create the study or strategy.
You can access the TradeStation Development Environment with the study or strategy from the active chart, or by opening the study/strategy document from the EasyLanguage Development Environment.
Protecting a Study or Strategy from a Chart
- Select the study or strategy from the active Chart Analysis window.
- Use the shortcut menu, and select Edit EasyLanguage for [study or strategy name] to protect. The TradeStation Development Environment will launch with the indicator's or strategy's EasyLanguage document opened.
- From the Menu bar, click File > Protect. The Password dialog is displayed.
- In the Password box, enter a password.
- Click OK.
- Reenter the password in the Password dialog to confirm it.
- Click OK.
Protecting a Study or Strategy from the TradeStation Development Environment
- Open the Study or Strategy, if applicable.
- From the Menu bar, click File > Protect. The Password dialog is displayed.
- In the Password box, enter a password.
- Click OK.
- Reenter the password in the Password dialog to confirm it.
- Click OK.
You must remember this password because once the study or strategy is protected, it is impossible to open the EasyLanguage document of that study or strategy without entering the correct password. Protected studies and strategies contain an L (Locked) in the Attributes column of the Open window.
Unprotecting a Study or Strategy
To unprotect a study or strategy, you must open the study or strategy in the TradeStation Development Environment.
- Open the Study or Strategy from the TradeStation Development Environment.
- From the TradeStation Development Environment Menu bar, click File > Protect. The Protect icon is enabled indicating that the indicator or strategy is actively protected.
- Select Protect. The study or strategy is now unprotected.
