Hiding a Symbol

There may be times when you do not want to display the price data for one or more symbols combined in a single sub-graph in a Chart Analysis window. You can hide the price data, while still allowing the price data to be referenced in the chart. You can hide any symbol in the chart, including the base price data.

For example, if you add an indicator that references price data for three symbols (Data1, Data2, and Data3) in its calculations, you can hide the prices data for the additional symbols (Data2 and Data3) to simplify the display and show only the base symbol that you are analyzing.

When you hide a symbol, you actually hide the subgraph that contains the price data for the symbol.

  1. Activate a Chart Analysis window that contains a symbol.
  2. From the menu, click Data > Edit Symbol. The Customize Symbols dialog is displayed.
  3. Select symbol to edit, then click Customize. The Customize Symbol [symbol] dialog is displayed.
  4. Use one of the following:
    1. Click the Style tab.
    • Place a check mark next to Make price data invisible.
    • This hides the display of the specified symbol in its associated subgraph, but does not hide the subgraph. Related studies and drawing objects will continue to appear. The symbol data in the subgraph may still be accessed
    1. Click the Scaling tab.
    • Select Hidden from the subgraph drop-down list.
    • This causes the subgraph containing the symbol to be hidden. The symbol data in the subgraph may still be accessed.
  5. Click OK, click Close when finished.
