Chart Analysis Preferences - Symbol

The Symbol tab allows you to modify the global settings in how the symbol data is displayed for all Chart Analysis windows in your workspaces.

 Access using the Chart Analysis Settings > Preferences menu sequence and select the Symbol tab.

Symbol 

  • Show empty daily trading periods for traditional chart types - Displays all calendar days whether or not there is price data stored for that day on the chart. When this check box is not selected, days for which there is no data (blank days) are removed from the chart, allowing a seamless data stream that reflects true price activity (provided the blank days are not due to an error in data collection).
  • Show empty intraday session periods for traditional chart types - Displays blank spaces for any day or part of the day whether or not there is price data stored for that period on the chart. When not selected, periods for which there is no data (blank periods) are removed from the chart, allowing a seamless data stream that reflects true price activity (provided blank periods are not due to an error in data collection).

Range Settings  

Contains the default range settings for your charts. When you set a default interval and range combination, the default range will apply to the selected interval as well as the intervals in between that interval and the next largest interval (selected in the Interval drop-down list).

For example, if you set a default range for charts with a 1 minute interval, this default range will apply for all charts between 1 minute and 5 minutes, which is the next largest interval in the list. You can repeat this process for each interval in the Interval drop-down list.

  • Chart Types - Select the desired interval (traditional or advanced) from the Interval drop-down list. The desired selection will determine additional options that is displayed in the dialog.
  • Interval - Select an interval type for the selected interval from the drop-down list. Based on the interval selected determines the interval types provided.
  • Range values to use for the interval selected above - You can repeat this process for each interval in the Interval drop-down list.
    • For Time Use - Enter the desired number to use to represent time in the For Time Use box. Select the desired range from the drop-down list.
    • For Bars Use - Enter the desired number to use to represent the number of bars in the For Bars Use box.
  • Default range setting to use for the interval selected above - Select the desired range setting (Time or Bars) for the desired interval selected in the Interval drop-down list.

 Click OK to apply changes or Cancel to exit without changes.
