Chart Analysis Preferences - Display
The Display tab allows you to set the global settings for how element in the Chart Analysis windows in your workspaces are displayed.
Access using the Chart Analysis Settings > Preferences menu sequence and select the Display tab.
- Show year with months on time axis - Displays both the month and the year on a time axis (for example, July is expressed as Jul '00).
- Show months as digits on time axis - Displays months as numerical values on the time axis (for example, July is shown as 7).
- Remove trailing zeros from price axis - Removes ending zeros from values in the price axis (for example, 45.20 is displayed as 45.2).
- Show Pointer Update Indication for Price Axis - Displays the pointer update indication on the price axis.
- Show Pointer Update Indication for Time Axis - Displays the pointer update indication on the time axis.
- Display crosshair lines with down click only - When checked, this setting prevents display of the crosshair pointer lines on the chart unless and until a down-click of the left mouse button occurs. When unchecked, crosshair lines are displayed to show the pointer's location in the chart without a down-click of the mouse.
- Prompt for symbol Axis Scaling selection - Prompts you with axis scaling choices when adding a symbol.
- Prompt for indicator Axis Scaling selection - Prompts you with axis scaling choices when adding an indicator.
- Display warnings for automatic changes to Scaling/Axis settings - Displays scaling/axis change warnings.
- Auto remove open tick in tight spacing - Controls the display of bars in a chart. As bar spacing gets smaller (when you resize the window or adjust the bar spacing), the open ticks begin overlapping with the previous bar, cluttering the chart. When you select this option, the open tick will be displayed only when it does not overlap with the previous bar.
- Auto space bars when chart resizes - Controls the bar spacing when you are re-sizing a chart. When you enable this option, the bar spacing changes to remain in proportion with the size of the window, increasing as the window increases and decreasing as the window decreases. Therefore, the number of bars shown in the Chart Analysis window remains constant, regardless of the size of the window.
- Auto-size bar and drawing object weight when bar spacing changes - Controls the width of the individual chart bars. Enabling this option causes the width of each bar to increase or decrease in relation to the size of the bar spacing.
- Show data tips - Toggles the display of data tips on or off. Use the drop-down list to the right of the check box to specify the default location where the data tip will appears across all charts, either relative to the mouse pointer or anchored to the top left corner of the chart.
- Maximum number of columns to display - Specifies the maximum number of columns to display in the Data Tip.
- Use Windows system colors for the Data Tip - Makes the text and background colors of the Data Tip use the current windows settings for tables instead of the chart text and background colors. This box is unchecked by default.
- Display empty rows for plots with no value - Eliminates the display of blank rows in the Data Tip to improve readability and overcome negative performance issues. This box is unchecked by default.
- When a study paints a candlestick bar, paint the body and wick - Paints the entire body and wick when using candlestick bars for the all indicators and/or PaintBar studies used in all charts. A minimum of two plots are required within the indicator, using BarHigh and BarLow plot types. Clear this setting for the BarHigh and BarLow plot types to be displayed as a vertical line over the price range that is specified. To customize the vertical line or change the plot types, seeCustomize Study - Style dialog.
