Changing Grid Patterns in a Chart

You can overlay a grid on your Chart Analysis window, making it easier to see price levels and time increments. You can choose from four different grid types and a number of colors.

  1. Activate a Chart Analysis window.
  2. From the menu, click Settings > Window. The Customize Window dialog is displayed.
  3. Click the Style tab.
  4. Select the Show Grid check box to display a grid.
  5. Select the grid to use from the Style drop-down list.
  6. Select the thickness of the grid lines from the Weight drop-down list. There are no weight options available with the Dotted Grid type.
  7. Select the Set as Default check box to use these grid style settings as the default for all future Chart Analysis windows.
  8. Click the Color tab.
  9. Select the grid line color from the Color drop-down list. To use the custom color palette, click Other.

    The Preview pane enables you to see view your changes before you apply them.
  1. Select the Set as Default check box to use these grid color settings as the default for all future Chart Analysis windows.
  2. Click OK.

You can use the Customize menu to choose from one of four grid styles: point, solid, horizontal or dotted. You can also use the options on this menu to change your chart from Semi-Log to Linear scaling as well as center the price scale to the last price on the chart. You can also quickly toggle on and off the display of the right and left price axes, change the chart to a different style, including a Percent Change chart, and add space to the right.
