Margin Debit

The amount that you are borrowing when trading on a margin account. For example, if you deposit $50,000 in your margin account, you will have $100,000 in buying power. If you buy $60,000 in securities, you are borrowing $10,000 over your actual deposit, so your margin debt is $10,000.
