Add Scan - Symbol Universe
The Add Scan - Symbol Universe dialog is the second step in the Add Scan wizard process of creating and adding a scan in the Scanner window. The purpose of this dialog is to specify and select the universe of symbols to include, and specific symbols to exclude in the scan process.
Access from the Add Scan - Name dialog and click Next. The Add Scan - Symbol Universe dialog is displayed.
Specify the universe of symbols to scan 
Contains the universe of symbols that can be used for your scan.
- Symbols to Include - Select the desired symbols (based on the universe type) to use for the scan using the drop-down list. You can enter as many universal symbols to include in the scan. The universe of symbols selected contains a check mark in the Status box. This indicates that the universe of symbols is enabled and will be used when running the scan.

- Removes the universe of symbols from the Symbols to Include drop-down list.
Select symbols to exclude
Contains selected symbols you do not want to include in your scan, but exists in the universe of symbols list. For example, you selected All Stocks for symbols to include, yet you want to exclude all NYSE symbols from the All Stocks symbol universe. This would scan all stocks without including NYSE stocks in the scan results.
- Symbols to Exclude - Select the desired symbol(s) to exclude from the universe of symbols you previously inserted.
Set as default - Check this setting to keep the current selections as the default when creating future scans.
Click Back to return to the Add Scan - Name dialog, click next to proceed to the Add Scan- Scan Criteria or Cancel to exit without any changes.
