Vertical Line Drawing Object
A Vertical Line is an analytical drawing tool used to identify a time and date on a chart. Use the shortcut menu for a selected object (identified with small squares) to change the drawing properties such as color, style, weight, and any object specific settings.
Drawing a Vertical Line Object
Drawing objects are applied to a chart to assist with data analysis. See About Drawing Objects for more details.
- Activate a Chart Analysis window.
- Use the Drawing > Vertical Line menu sequence. The pointer will change to the shape of a vertical line object.
- Click where you want to add the vertical line object.
Moving a Vertical Line Object
After a vertical line is applied to a chart, you can reposition the drawing object at any time.
- Activate a Chart Analysis window containing a vertical line object.
- Select the vertical line object and draw horizontally to reposition the vertical line.
Customize the Settings of a Vertical Line Object
Use this setting to extend a trendline to the left or right.
- Activate the Chart Analysis window containing the vertical line object.
- Right-click on the selected vertical line object and select Edit 'Vertical Line'. The Customize Vertical Line dialog is displayed.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Under Extend, select the Extend across all subgraphs check box to have the vertical line extend across every subgraph in the chart window.
- Select the Set as Default check box to use this as the default settings for all future trendlines.
- Click OK.
