Customize Study Properties - Chart Style

The Chart Style tab allows you to customize the plot type and style properties of a study so that when the indicator is applied to a chart, these settings are used. Chart style properties do not affect the study's calculation in any way but only the manner in which the technique is displayed.

  • Access while editing a study document using the File > Properties menu sequence, or select Properties from the right-click shortcut menu; then select the Chart Style tab.

Plots  

Identifies the plot to which the style settings apply.  The Type, Style and Weight panes reflect the current settings for each selected plot.  The Preview pane at the bottom of the customize window shows how the plot will appear.  You can have different settings for each plot.

  • Select the name of a plot to review or modify its settings.  

Type  

Contains various line types that can be used to represent the selected study.  Other display settings will apply to the selected type.

  • Select the line type to use for the technique.

Style  

Provides various line styles to be used in conjunction with the line type for the selected study.

  • Select the line style to use for the indicator.

Weight  

Displays various line style thickness that can be used for the selected study.

  • Select the line thickness to use for the selected indicator.

Display Update Indication  

  • Check this setting to highlight the study's value on the chart's price axis. The value will be highlighted in the same color as the technique's plot.

Display Plot Value in Status Line, Datatip and Data Window  

  • Check this setting to display the study's value next to the technique's name in the chart's status line, datatip, and data window.

Don't automatically connect plot lines  

  • Check this setting if you do not wish to display a plot line when no plot values exists for one or more bars. The default behavior (unchecked) is to display a continuous line between bars containing plot values.

Default

  • Click this button to use the current settings as the default for all future studies. A message appears to confirm if you want to use your settings as the default.

  The Preview pane displays a sample of the study using the current settings.

 Click OK to apply changes or Cancel to exit without changes.
