Market Depth Summary Pane
The Summary pane displays the same information shown in the Bid Detail and Ask Detail panes but in a comparative format for each price level. You can choose which columns to display in the Summary pane and the order in which they are displayed. For more information, see Formatting Market Depth Columns. By default, all of the columns are displayed.
Access using the menu bar View > Summary Pane menu sequence to toggle the display of the Summary pane.
Following is a list of the Summary columns and the information that they display:
- Price - The Bid and Ask for the symbol - the best Bid and best Ask are always listed as the top line. The Bid is listed first, separated from the Ask by an asterisk (*). For example, 43 ½ * 43 ¼ indicates that the Bid is 43 ½ and the Ask is 43 ¼.
- Depth - The number of market makers offering a specific Bid and specific Ask price. The number of market makers behind the Bid is listed first, separated from the number of market makers behind the Ask by an asterisk (*). For example, 9 * 4 indicates that there are 9 market makers behind a specific Bid and 4 market makers behind a specific Ask.
- Size - The total number of shares offered for the Bid and Ask. The Bid Size is listed first, separated from the Ask Size by an asterisk (*). For example, 1200 * 3100 indicates that there are currently 1200 shares in demand and 3100 shares for sale.
- Spread - The difference between the best Bid and the best Ask.
