Format Drawing Object - Alerts
On the Alerts tab, you can set an alert for trendline-based drawing objects as well as Standard and Fibonacci cycles. All alerts are logged to the Message Center. For more information, see About the TradeStation Message Center.
Setting up alerts for Trendline based objects (Gann Fan, Horizontal Line, Speed/Resistance Fan, Support/Resistance Line, and Trendline)
- Check Enable Alert to turn on all alerts for the selected drawing object. Deselect the check mark to disable alerts.
- Select the enable criterion that you want to trigger the alert.
- Choose the Breakout intra-bar option to send an alert as soon as the price of the current bar crosses the trendline at any point (for example, the third minute of a five-minute bar).
- Choose the Breakout on close option to send an alert when the price data between the close of the previous bar and the close of the current bar intersects the trendline. This alert will not be triggered until the end of the current bar.
- Choose the Breakout intra/inter-bar option to send an alert when a) the open of the current bar is on the opposite side the trendline from the close of the previous bar, or b) the current bar crosses the trendline at any point.
- If alerts are enabled, choose one of the following actions to be taken when the alert condition is true:
- Select Alert once to turn off alerts after the first one occurs and clear the Enable Alert check box.
- Select Alert once per bar (interval) to turn off alerts for the remainder of the bar after the first one occurs. In addition, checking Clear triggered alert on bar close removes the displayed alert marker at the close of each bar.
- Select Alert continuously to have all alerts processed.
- If alerts are enabled, choose one of the following Message Center notification settings:
- Select Use the global messaging preferences for the global Message Center notification settings. Click Configure to set up your global messaging preferences.
- Select Use custom settings to choose custom notification settings for this analysis technique or column. Click Configure to set up your custom messaging preferences.

- Select the Set as Default check box to use this option as the default for all future drawing objects of this type.
- Click OK.
Setting up alerts for Time Cycle-based Drawing Object (including Time Cycle, Fibonacci Cycles, and Fibonacci Time Extension Lines)
In this window, you can format the alert settings for time cycles and Fibonacci fixed-base time lines. You can set a certain number of bars before the beginning of a new cycle when you want to be notified. All alerts are logged to the Message Center as well.
- Check Enable Alert to turn on all alerts for the selected drawing object. Deselect the check mark to disable alerts.
- Select the enable criterion that you want to trigger the alert.
- To send an alert a specified number of bars before a time cycle, choose the Alert [ ] bars from next cycle option, or
- To send an alert a specified number of bars before the objects, choose the Alert [ ] bars from vertical bar option.
- If alerts are enabled, choose one of the following actions to be taken when the alert condition is true:
- Select Alert once to turn off alerts after the first one occurs and clear the Enable Alert check box.
- Select Alert once per bar (interval) to turn off alerts for the remainder of the bar after the first one occurs. In addition, checking Clear triggered alert on bar close removes the displayed alert marker at the close of each bar.
- Select Alert continuously to have all alerts processed.
- If alerts are enabled, choose one of the following Message Center notification settings:
