Changing the Y-Axis of a Chart

You can choose the type of scaling used for displaying price information. You can choose Date Range on Screen, Entire Date Range, or designate your own price scaling values, Fixed. See Scaling in Price Charts for a detailed explanation of scaling and your options. You can also specify if you want to center the y-axis based on the last bar's closing price.

  1. Activate a Chart Analysis window.
  2. From the menu, click Data > Edit Symbol. The Customize Symbol [symbol] dialog is displayed.

When you are working in a multi-data chart, using the Data > Edit Symbol menu sequence produces the Customize Symbols window which lists the symbols plotted. Select the symbol you want to edit then click Customize to open the Customize Symbol [symbol] window.

  1. Click the Scaling tab.
  2. Under Range, select the scale type: Date Range on Screen, Entire Date Range automatic scaling, or Fixed.
  3. If you selected the Fixed option, enter the lowest value to use on the scale in the Min box, and in the Max box, enter the highest value to use.

When replacing a symbol in a chart using Fixed scaling, the scaling returns to Date Range on Screen scaling.
  1. Under range, select Center Last Price if applicable. See Centering Last Price on a Chart Analysis Window for more information.
  2. Select the Set as Default check box to use the new settings as the default for all Chart Analysis windows you create in the future.
  3. Click OK or Close.

You can use the Customize menu to change your chart from Semi-Log to Linear scaling as well as center the price scale to the last price on the chart. You can also quickly toggle on and off the display of the right and left price axes, change the chart to a different style, including a Percent Change chart, add space to the right and display a grid.
