Customize Study Properties - Grid Style

The Grid Style tab allows you to customize the plot type and style properties of a study so that when the indicator is applied to a grid (such as RadarScreen), these settings are used. Grid style properties do not affect the study's calculation in any way but only the manner in which the technique is displayed.

  • Access while editing a study document using the File > Properties menu sequence, or select Properties from the right-click shortcut menu; then select the Grid Style tab.

Plots

Identifies the plot to which the style settings apply.  The Category and Align sections reflect the current settings for each selected plot.  The Preview pane at the bottom of the customize window shows how the plot will appear.  You can have different settings for each plot.

  • Select the name of a plot to review or modify its settings.

Category

Contains various formatting options for values displayed in each column of the study. Specific formatting choices will be displayed for each category as outlined below.

  • Select the category to use for the technique.

Same as symbol - Displays values in the format in which they were sent by the TradeStation Network. Only Alignment settings can be changed for this option.

Number - Displays the plot as a number. In the Decimal(s) box, enter the number of decimal places to be displayed. Select the Use 1000 separator (,) check box to display separate values exceeding 1,000 with commas (for example, 24500 displays as 24,500).

Currency - Displays numbers as a dollar amount by placing a dollar sign ($) in front of the value (for example, $10.25). In the Decimal(s) box, enter the number of decimal places to be displayed.

Percentage - Displays data as a percentage (for example, 10%). In the Decimal(s) box, enter the number of decimal places to be displayed.

Fractions - Displays numbers as fractions (for example, ½). Select the Use optimal fractions check box to reduce fractions to the lowest common denominator. In the Format list box, choose the smallest fractional amount you want to display. Be sure you select the smallest fraction your symbol trades in. This avoids any problems with values misreported due to the "rounding" of numbers.

Date - Displays a cell's content as a date (for example, 04/15/99). In the Format list box, choose a date display format.

Time - Displays a cell's content as time (for example, 10:45:15). In the Format list box, choose a time display format.

Text - Displays plots as text, even when a number is in the cell.

None (no display) - Prevents display of the plot column in RadarScreen. Can be used for plots that are displayed (plotted) in charts but that need not be visible in RadarScreen (such as zero lines, or overbought and oversold levels that are the same for all symbols in the RadarScreen).

Align

Controls the positioning of values for each plot.

  • Select the left, center, or right alignment to use in a cell for the selected plot (column) and format category.

Default

  • Click this button to use the current settings as the default for all future studies. A message appears to confirm if you want to use your settings as the default.

The Preview pane displays a sample of the study using the current settings.
