Protecting and Unprotecting an EasyLanguage Document

You can safeguard your EasyLanguage documents (studies, strategies, functions, etc.) from  being viewed by others by using the Protect feature. This feature allows you to create a customized password for the documents that you want to keep proprietary. Only those who know the password can access the EasyLanguage statements in the document.

Protecting/Unprotecting an EasyLanguage document (Study, Strategy, Function, etc.)

  1. In the TradeStation Development Environment, use the File > Open menu sequence to open the EasyLanguage document you want to protect or unprotect.
  2. Click File from the Menu bar.  The lock icon next to Protect indicates the current protection status.

(Unprotected)  - Click Protect to add protection.  When prompted, enter and verify your password.

(Protected)      - Click Protect to remove protection from the document.

  3. Click OK.

You must remember this password because once the EasyLanguage document is protected, it is impossible to open the document without entering the correct password. Protected studies and strategies contain an L (Locked) in the Attributes column of the Open EasyLanguage Document window (details view).
