Setting Up Window Links
There are two types of window links available in TradeStation, symbol and interval. Windows linked with symbol links share symbol information and windows linked with interval links share interval information. It is possible for a window to simultaneously have both a symbol-based link and an interval-based link.
Window link groups use a color coding method to define which windows are linked by symbol or interval. For each link type, a color indicates that windows will respond to the same symbol or interval changes. The scope of a window link is shown by the shape of the left edge of the link button.
A flat left edge represents a local link that communicates with other windows in the open workspace (local to the workspace).
A curved left edge represents a global link that communicates with windows in any open workspace (global between workspaces).
Setting a Symbol Link Group
- From the title bar, click the right portion of the symbol button of the window that you want to Symbol Link. Clicking the left portion of the button automatically selects the last used Symbol Link Group style.
- Select a <ColorName> Local Symbol Link or <ColorName> Global Symbol Link item from the drop-down list. Additional color choices are available under More <Local/Global> Symbol Link Groups >.
- - Shows the group color you selected (the Green Local Symbol Link group was selected in this example). A similar button with a curved left edge would indicate Global scope for the Symbol link.
- Repeat steps 1 - 3 for all windows that you want to Symbol Link.
Setting an Interval Link Group
- From the title bar, click the right portion of the interval button of the window that you want to Interval Link. Clicking the left portion of the button automatically selects the last used Interval Link Group style.
- Select a <ColorName> Local Interval Link or <ColorName> Global Interval Link item from the drop-down list. Additional color choices are available under More <Local/Global> Interval Links >.
- - Shows the group color you selected (the Red Global Interval Link group was selected in this example). A similar button with a flat left edge would indicate Local scope for the Interval link.
- Repeat steps 1 - 3 for all windows that you want to Interval Link.
Setting a Listener Link for a Symbol or Interval Linked Window
- From the title bar, click the right portion of the symbol or interval button of the window that you want to contain a Listener Link of either a symbol or interval type.
- Select Global Listener Symbol Link or Global Listener Interval Link item from the drop-down list.
- - Shows that the symbol or interval link is now set to Local Listener. A similar button with a curved left edge would indicate Global scope for the Listener link. A Listener Link window will respond to any symbol and/or interval changes made in other windows in the workspace (local) or across workspaces (global) regardless of whether the other windows have a link group specified.
- Repeat steps 1 - 3 for all windows that you want to set to Global Link.
