Choosing the Sub-graph for a Symbol in a Multi-Data Chart
When you work with multi-data charts, you can change the location of the symbol in two ways: using the drag and drop method or menu option. Under most circumstances, the drag and drop method is the fastest and simplest way to move symbols from one subgraph to another. But when you have a large number of symbols plotted in the same Chart Analysis window, you may want to use the menu method.
If you select the Set as Default check box to set the default settings for your charts, the subgraph setting is not included.
Moving a Symbol from one Sub-graph to another using the Drag & Drop Method
- Press and hold down the mouse button over the price bar of the symbol to move.
- Drag the hand pointer to the subgraph location where to plot the symbol.
When the pointer moves to a new subgraph, a plus appears in the left corner of the hand pointer. . - Release the mouse button.
When you move a symbol into a subgraph containing another symbol, the price scale's range is adjusted to whichever symbol's price is highest and whichever symbol's price is lowest.
Moving a Symbol from one Sub-graph to another using the Menu Option
- From the menu, click Data > Edit Symbol . The Customize Symbol dialog is displayed.
- Select the symbol to move.
- Click Customize. The Customize Symbol [symbol] dialog is displayed.
- Click the Scaling tab.
- Under Axis, use the Sub-graph drop-down list to:
- Select the number of the sub-graph to which you want to move the symbol, or
- Select Hidden to keep the symbol on the chart but not have it displayed.
- Click OK.
- Click Close.
Moving a symbol from one subgraph to another does not affect its data number. Further, if a study has been applied to a symbol and the symbol is moved to another subgraph, the study is still calculated based on the symbol to which it was originally applied.
