Order Entry Preferences - Equities - Validations & Confirms
Use the Equities - Validations & Confirms dialog to set up validation warnings and enable/disable order confirms for Equities orders.
Access using the menu bar File > Preferences > TradeStation Order Entry and select Equities> Validations & Confirms.
Validations
Controls the default settings for the Warning message to be displayed if any of the following criteria is met.
- Warn if limit price is more than [ ] % from Last - Check this setting to receive a warning message when a limit price is more than a specified percentage from the Last value. Enter the percentage that you want to use in the box.
- Warn if order quantity is more than [ ] shares - Check this setting to receive a warning message when an order quantity exceeds a specified number of shares. Enter the number of shares that you want to use in the box.
- Warn if position cost is more than $ [ ] - Check this setting to receive a warning message when a position cost exceeds a certain currency amount. Enter the currency amount that you want to use in the box.
- Warn if Activation Rules will trigger order to be placed immediately - Check this setting to receive a warning message when you place an order if all of the Activation Rule(s) that are entered will trigger immediately. For example, a time-based Activation Rule will activate immediately if the time entered in the Activation Rule dialog is equal to or before the current time and the current time is within the regular session. Similarly, a price-based activation rule will trigger immediately if the value entered meets the activation condition comparing to Last for 'Trade Tick' trigger types and Bid/Ask for 'Bid/Ask Tick' and 'Ask/Bid Ticks' trigger types.
- Warn if order quantity exceeds overnight buying power - Check this setting to see the Buying Power Alert message when an order quantity exceeds your overnight buying power. If you have checked Don't show this message again on the Buying Power Alert dialog to cancel this warning, you can re-enable the warning by checking this validation setting again.
- Warn if buying power exceeds thresholds for selected account(s) - Check this setting to see the Buying Power Warning message when an order exceeds your overnight buying power or day trade buying power. If you have checked Disable Buying Power Warnings on the Buying Power Warning dialog to cancel this warning, you can re-enable the warning by checking this validation setting again. This setting applies to all TradeStation platforms.
Confirms
Controls the dialog default settings for order placement.
- Matrix - Check this setting to display the Confirm dialog when placing an Equity order from the Matrix window.
- Order Bar, Macros, and Order Placement Objects - Check this setting to display the Confirm dialog when placing an Equity order from the Order Bar, an Order Entry Macro, or Order Placement objects.
- Market Depth - Check this setting to display the Confirm dialog when placing an Equity order from the Market Depth window.
- Quick Trade Bar - Check this setting to display the Confirm dialog when placing an Equity order from the Quick Trade Bar.
Click OK to apply changes or Cancel to exit without changes.
