Messaging (Email and Text Messages)
The Messaging dialog allows you to enter the email and text/SMS message address(es) if you want TradeStation to send alerts by email and/or SMS.
Access from the Notification Preferences dialog by checking Email and clicking Configure. The Messaging dialog is displayed.
- To - Enter the email or text (SMS) address(es) where you want TradeStation to send alert message notifications. Use a semi-colon when using multiple email and text message addresses. For example, entering "myname@myemail.com; 9005551234@mycelluar.com" will send alert messages to an email address and to a text/SMS messaging cellular address.
- From - Enter the email address that you want to appear in the From line of your email notifications.
- SMTP Server name or IP address - Enter the SMTP server name (or IP address) that your from email address uses. You cannot enter multiple SMTP server names or IP addresses.
The following list contains common Email Providers (ISPs) and their settings. If your provider is not listed, please search the Internet to find your email provider's SMTP Server Name, Protocol, and Port number (used for sending emails) or directly contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP). - My SMTP Server Requires Authentication - Check this setting if your email provider requires you to enter an account name and password to send emails through their SMTP server.
- Account Name - The name associated with your email.
- Password - The password used to access your email.
- SSL / TLS / No Encryption - The message encryption protocol specified by your email provider.
- Port - A number (common ports are 25, 465, and 587) that your provider's SMTP Server uses to remotely send mails.
- Test - Click this button and TradeStation will attempt to send a sample message using the current messaging settings.
- Settings - Select the message format that you want to use and enter the maximum number of characters that you can receive per e-mail.
Click OK to save your settings and close the Messaging dialog, or Cancel to exit without changes. Click OK to save your settings and close the Notification Preferences dialog, or Cancel to exit without changes.
