Insert Scan - Scan Criteria

The Insert Scan - Scan Criteria dialog allows you to specify the scan rules by selecting a quote field, function, analysis techniques (Indicators, ShowMes, PaintBars), and an operator. In addition, each criteria row can be expanded to specify the inputs, interval and other settings. The following sections will outline the columns in the primary grid and sub-grid.

 Access from the Insert Scan - Symbol Universe dialog and click Next. The Insert Scan - Scan Criteria dialog is displayed.

Select the criteria to use in the scan  

Contains the criteria and fields to be used as criteria for the scan. All columns have the functionality of selecting the desired criteria using the drop-down list method, however, numeric and text values can be entered in the Field/Value column for the selected row. For example, you may want to scan the selected symbol universe for the today's volume that is greater than 10000. The criteria to select is Vol (Today), >, 10000.

In addition, studies (indicators, ShowMes, and PaintBars) can be used as part of the rule, For example, you may want to see the new high for the month for the universal symbols selected. The criteria to select would be ShowMe, True.

The collapse/expand button allows you to display the Sort Key row to sort the criteria when multiple criteria is being used. When you execute and run the scan, the sort key will provide a list of symbols that met the criteria of the scan in the predefined order selected. For example, selecting First for Close and Second for Vol (Today) will sort in either ascending or descending order when you execute the scan.  

Move Up/Move Down- Changes the sort criteria in the desired priority you want your scan results based on.

Set as default - Check this setting to keep the current selections as the default when creating future scans.

 Click Back to return to the Insert Scan - Symbol Universe dialog, click Finish to complete the scan, click Run to start the scan results, or Cancel to exit without any changes.
