Using the Search Tab
Use the Search tab to explore the content of topics and find matches to user-defined queries. For example, you can search for 'strategy' and every topic that contains the word 'strategy' will be listed at the Search tab. Simply click any topic from the list and it is displayed in the viewer. Be aware that such single word searches may find a large number of topics.
Here are the basic rules for making queries:
- Searches are not case-sensitive, so you can type your search in uppercase or lowercase characters.
- You may search for any combination of letters (a-z) and numbers (0-9).
- Group words using double quotes (i.e. "Create a Chart") to search for complete phrases.
- Punctuation marks such as the period, colon, semicolon, comma, and hyphen are ignored during a search.
Advanced full-text search operators (AND, OR, NEAR, NOT) are available from the
drop-down list.
- From the Menu bar, click Help > Help > EasyLanguage Reserved Words & Functions.
- Click the Search tab.
- Type the word or phrase to find in the text field.
- Do the following:
- Check Search previous results to limit the search to only the currently listed topics.
The results of this selection will display numerous search results. This is only suggested if you can find your search using Search Titles Only. - Check Match similar words to find all words that are similar to those in the search criteria.
- Check Search titles only to limit the search to just topic titles (preferred method of search).
- Click List Topics or press ENTER.
Help will display the search results of your criteria.
- Under Select topic:
- Select the topic of interest
- Click Display, or double-click the topic
The topic selected will be displayed.
