Changing Optimization Graph Settings

The graphs in the Strategy Optimization Report have default settings; however, you can change the settings and customize the graph to your liking.

  1. Activate a Chart Analysis chart containing an optimized strategy.
  2. From the Menu bar, click View > Strategy Optimization Report. The Strategy Optimization Report window is displayed.
  1. Highlight the desired cells in the report you want to graph and click the desired graph button you want to use from the toolbar.
  2. From the Strategy Optimization Report toolbar, click the Format Graph icon. Depending on the graph selected will determine the graph type (Tape, Graph, Bar Graph, Line Graph, etc.) dialog that is displayed.
  3. Select the appropriate check boxes for settings to use. The settings available depend on the type of graph created. Refer to the table below for a definition of each setting.
  4. Click OK when finished.

Strategy Optimization Graph Settings

Setting Description Graph Type
3D pie sides same color as top Formats the sides of a three-dimensional pie graph in the same color as the top. If you do not use this setting, the sides of the pie graph are shaded in a darker color than the top of the pie graph. Pie
Amplitude data is absolute Plots each data series from the same zero point. If you do not use this setting, the data series are stacked, one on top of another; the first data series starts at absolute zero, and the next data series is plotted from the highest point of the first data set. Area
Cluster bars in the z axis Plots the bars along the z-axis (depth) instead of plotting the bars side-by-side. Bar
Data orientation: Determines which value(s) to assign to the x- and Y-Axis. Area, bar, line, pie, tape
Do not draw labels on axes Removes all labels on the x-axis (horizontal) and y-axis (vertical) for bar, tape, line, and area graphs. For pie graphs, it removes the labels for each portion of the pie. Area, bar, line, pie, tape
Draw bars horizontally Reverses the y (vertical) and x (horizontal) axes, so that the bars appear with a horizontal orientation instead of vertical. Bar
Draw curve through points Connects the points of each data set with a line. Line
Draw linear regression best fit Draws a linear regression line that best fits all the points in the data set. Line
Draw maximum and minimum lines Draws two horizontal lines parallel to the x-axis per column, representing the maximum and minimum value of the data set. Line
Draw mean line Draws a mean line for each column or data set. Line
Draw percentile area graph Draws an area graph using a scale of 1 to 100, so that each data series represents a percentage of the total. Area
Draw stacked bar graph Draws a stacked bar graph instead of a bar graph, where each data series is plotted in the same bar, rather than side-by-side. Bar
Draw stacked percentile bar graph Draws a stacked bar graph using a scale of 1 to 100, so that each bar equals one hundred percent and each column is represented as a percentage of the total. Bar
Draw standard deviation lines Draws two lines per data set at plus one and minus one standard deviation from the mean. Line
Draw symbol at each point Plots each point on the graph using a unique symbol for each column. Bar
Draw vertical sticks to points Draws a vertical line through the x (horizontal) coordinate of each data point. Line
Draw x grid Draws vertical lines across the graph. Area, bar, line, pie, tape
Draw y grid Draws horizontal lines across the graph. Area, bar, line, pie, tape
Join points at solid lines Connects each data point with a horizontal line. Line
Labels take same color as segments Formats the label color to match the color of its corresponding section in a pie graph. Pie
Legend text same color as symbol Formats the legend text in the same color as its corresponding symbol. Area, bar, line, pie, tape
Omit lines between labels and segments Removes the line connecting each section of the pie graph with its label. Pie
Reverse bar order in horizontal graph. Reverses the order of the bars. Bar
Three dimensional Displays the graph in three dimensions. Area, bar, pie
