Enabling and Disabling Order Validations

You can enable validations that notify you when an order exceeds certain criteria that you set for price, quantity, and position cost. For more information, see Order Entry Preferences - Equities-Validations & Confirms.

1. From the Menu bar, click File > Preferences > Order Entry Preferences, or right-click on the Order Bar. The Order Entry Preferences dialog is displayed.

2. From the left pane, select Validations & Confirms for the trade type.
3. Under Validations, enter the criteria for the validations to use.
   • To receive a notification when a limit price exceeds the Last value by a specific percentage or more, enter a percentage in the % from Last box.
   • To receive a notification when an order quantity exceeds a specific size, enter the number of shares to use in the shares box.
   • To receive a notification when the position cost for an order exceeds a certain amount, enter the dollar amount to use in the $ box.

4. Click OK when finished.
