Customize Labels of a Drawing Object

Certain drawing objects contain numeric and text labels that can be turned on or off to simply the chart display or positioned for easier reading.

  1. Right-click on the drawing object and select Customize [Drawing Object Name]. You can also use the shortcut menu and select Label. The Customize [Drawing Object Name] dialog is displayed.
  1. Click the Labels tab.

Show Labels

Contains the settings for how the labels for the drawing object are shown in the chart.

  1. Select the desired drawing object labels you want displayed on the chart. Note that not all labels apply to all drawing objects.
    • Make Transparent - Check this setting to make the background of the text label transparent. This allows the bars to show through the text. Without this selected, the text background will cover up any underlying bars.
    • Top Placement - Check this setting to have labels positioned at the top of the object. If the check box is not checked, the labels will appear at the bottom. Used for vertical drawing objects only.
    • Right Justify - Check this setting to have labels positioned at the right endpoint of the object. If the checkbox is not checked, the labels will appear at the left endpoint.
    • Show Angle Degrees - Check this setting to show the angle of each vertex (Triangle drawing object only).
    • Show Price Percent Change - Check this setting to show the + or - percent change in price from the first endpoint to the second endpoint (large boxes indicate endpoints).
    • Show Price Net Change - Check this setting to show the + or - net change in price from the first endpoint to the second endpoint (large boxes indicate endpoints).
    • Show Anchor Prices - (TrendLine) Check this setting to show the prices used to specify the anchor points for your trendline.
    • Show Bar Count - Check this setting to show the number of bars used to calculate price and time space values from the first endpoint (or triangle vertex) to the second endpoint (or triangle vertex; large boxes indicate endpoints).
    • Show Time Span - Check this setting to show the amount of time (days/hours/minutes) between the first endpoint (or vertex) to the second endpoint (or triangle vertex; large boxes indicate endpoints).
    • Show Vertex Price - Check this setting to show the price level at which each vertex appears (Triangle drawing object only).
    • Show Date - Check this setting to show the date stamp of a vertical drawing object.
    • Show Time - Check this setting to show the time stamp of a vertical drawing object.
  1. Select a font, style, and size to use for drawing object labels.
