Desktop Preferences - General

Use the General tab to determine the general desktop preferences for TradeStation. Desktop preferences are global settings so they apply to all windows and workspaces.

Access using the menu bar File > Preferences > Desktop menu sequence and select the General tab.

Window Resizing Options

Controls the window resizing settings. You can automatically resize all windows within a workspace when a new window is created as well as automatically resize windows when the TradeStation Desktop is resized.

  • Automatically arrange all windows... - Check this setting if you want TradeStation to automatically arrange multiple windows in an Arrange All format. When there are multiple windows on your desktop, TradeStation automatically resize them so that each window displays on your desktop.
  • Automatically resize windows... - Check this setting if you want TradeStation to automatically adjust your windows proportionally when the TradeStation Desktop is resized. If you reduce the window size of TradeStation, the window (i.e. Chart Analysis window) will automatically be reduced in size to fit into the TradeStation platform window.

For more information, see Arranging Windows and Resizing a Window.

Confirmations

Controls the settings if you want to be notified when deleting a window from the workspace.

  • Confirm when deleting a window from a workspace - Check this setting if you want to receive a confirmation message before deleting a window from a workspace.

A check mark in the Confirmations check box indicates that a confirmation message will appear when deleting any window type. A green square displayed in the check box indicates that, for one or more windows, the delete confirmation message was displayed and you selected the 'Do not display this message again for this type of window' option. Thus, the confirmation will be displayed for some windows, but not for others. To reset the display of the confirmation message, you can either clear the check box (disabling the confirmation for all window types) or re-check the check box (enabling the confirmation for all window types).

Window Linking

Controls how the window linking icons are displayed above the title bar. For more information, see About Window Linking.

  • Show thin Window Linking icons above title bar - Check this setting to change the window linking icons from full size to a thin line.

  • Enable continuous futures contracts rollover notification - Check this setting to receive a notification message in the Event Log when a continuous futures contract rollover occurs.

  • Maximum number of orders to display - Enter the maximum number of orders you are requesting for historical trades.
