Specifying Bar Style and Attributes

In addition to being able to specify the data interval (1-tick, 1-minute, daily, etc.), you can choose from six different chart styles, as well as specify the colors in which to display the bar components. They are:

 Activate a Chart Analysis window. Access using the Data > Edit Symbol menu sequence and select the Style tab. The Customize Symbol - Style dialog is displayed.

 When you are working in a multi-data chart, the menu sequence produces the Customize Symbols window, which lists the symbols plotted. Select the symbol you want to edit and click Customize to open the Customize Symbol [symbol] dialog.

  1. Choose the bar type and attributes you want to use. Your choices display in a preview pane.
    • To change the bar type (for example, Candlestick), select the desired bar type: OHLC, HLC, Candlestick, Dot on Close, or Line on Close from the Bar type list.
    • Select a color from the Component color drop-down list to choose a new color for the bar. To paint different parts of a bar in different colors, clear the Use same color/ weight for all components check box. Then, select a component from the Bar components list and use the Component color drop-down list to choose a new color for the component.
    • To change the weight of the bar, use the Component weight drop-down list to choose a new thickness for the bar. To use different weights for different parts of a bar, clear the Use same color/weight for all components check box. Then, select a component from the Bar components list and use the Component weight drop-down list to choose a new weight for the component.
  2. Select the Display Update Indication check box to highlight the price on the price axis. The price will be highlighted in the same color as the symbol's plot.
  3. To use the new bar style and attributes as the default for all charts in the future, select the Set as Default check box.

 Click OK, or Close when working with multiple symbols.
