Saving a Desktop

When you save a desktop, all changes made to the desktop settings (Preferences, Order Bar, Toolbars, etc.) are saved. You will have the option to save only your current desktop or all open desktops at the same time.

It is a good idea to periodically save your desktops as you work, that way you won't lose your work in the event of a power outage, etc.

When naming your desktop, you can use long, descriptive names. Desktop names cannot include any of the following characters: forward slash (/), backslash (\), greater than sign (>), less than sign (<), asterisk (*), period (.), question mark (?), quotation mark ("), pipe symbol (|), colon (:), or semicolon (;). Also, the complete path to the file, including the drive letter, server name, folder path, and file name, can contain up to 255 characters.

If the desktop is new (Untitled Desktop), you are prompted to provide a desktop name.
  1. In the File name box, type a name for the desktop.
  1. Click Save. The workspace is now saved.

Saving the desktop with a new name

  1. From the Menu bar, click File > Save As Desktop. You are prompted to provide a desktop name. The Save Workspace As dialog is displayed.

Saving changes to all desktops

  1. From the Menu bar, click File > Save All Desktops. The Save Workspace As dialog is displayed.
  2. If all desktops have been named, all the desktops and changes are saved. To cancel the operation, click Cancel. To save only specific desktops, click Yes. TradeStation cycles through the desktops, prompting you to save each one. Click Yes for those to save, and No for those not to save. To save none of the desktops, click No to All.
  3. If you have not yet named the desktop (Untitled Desktop), you are prompted to provide a desktop name. In the File name box, type a name for your desktop.
  4. Click Save when finished. You are prompted once for each new desktop.
