About the Menu Bar

The Menu bar displays the menu headings. The menus that are available depend on what is open in the workspace and are used to access commands that are specific to the active workspace window. Click a menu heading to open the menu and choose a command. The commands you use frequently are also displayed on the toolbar and shortcut menus.

You can display menu commands using the following methods:

  1. Clicking the menu in the Menu bar, or
  2. Pressing the <Alt> key plus the first letter in the menu's title. For example, to display the File menu, press <Alt> + <F>.

You can select or execute a menu command using the following methods:

  1. Clicking the item in the menu, or
  2. Pressing the <Alt> key plus the underlined letter in the menu's title, and then pressing the letter underlined in the menu item. For example, to select the menu item File > Open Workspace, press <Alt> + <F> + <O>, or
  3. Using the cursor or the <>, and <¯> keys to highlight a menu item, and then pressing the Enter key.

Example

Although the menu headings may be similar in each area of the workspace, the drop-down menu commands for each menu will vary depending on the workspace environment currently opened.

The basic TradeStation desktop menu always includes the following items:

File    Edit    View    Window    Help

Other windows, such as the Chart Analysis, add context specific menu headings including Insert, Format and Drawing to the basic items:
